On a chill February day, there's nothing like a fresh, warm loaf of bread straight out of the oven! Here is one of our favourite bread recipes that uses One Organic Farm's organic all-purpose flour (which we carry in our farm store).
It's a perfect bread for sandwiches and it freezes well too!
Ingredients:
6 cups all-purpose One Organic Farm flour
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp instant yeast
3 cups water
Instructions:
In a large bowl, mix dry ingredients, then add 3 cups water. Mix gently until it looks sticky. Place a cloth over top of bowl and let sit overnight.
In the morning, preheat oven to 500F and place cast iron Dutch oven in preheated oven.
Flour your countertop and place dough on counter. Fold dough once and let sit on counter while oven is preheating.
Once oven has reached 500F, place dough in the hot Dutch oven and place in oven with lid on for 35 minutes. Take lid off and bake for another 10 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack until ready to slice (about 30 minutes).
Variations:
Add grated cheese into dry ingredients for cheese bread; add Italian seasoning for focaccia-style bread; or, add a handful of olives and chopped-up feta and spinach for a treat. Get creative -- the possibilities are endless!
